The knit and natter is still continuing on a Monday, it is every other Monday, 6:30pm till 9:00. It is on tonight (12th august 2013) so then every other week

New Advanced Knitting Classes

New advanced knitting courses starting from Monday 2nd July This is a roll on roll off course where you are taught advanced stitches and garment construction but the idea is that you bring along an idea or pattern and commit to a six week period of attendance to complete this. So that you get to make something you are interested in but with the confidence of a teacher assisting. Please contact Merley House Events on 01202 848099 and speak to Sam Phillips. Basic Knitting Classes are also starting again on a Wednesday from 4th July this will run along the same theme as previously advertised. All courses will start at 6.30 and finish at 9.00

Knitting Classes Starting @ Merley House 16/04

An 8 week basic knitting course is starting on Monday 16th April 6-8pm @ Merley House, Merley House Lane, Wimborne.

You will learn about knitting needles, yarn, tension and casting on. Concentrating on knit and purl stitches creating small samples of garter & stocking stitch, a variety of ribs, ridges, and puffball patterns.

You will also get the opportunity to introduce new yarns, increase and decrease, correcting mistakes, i.e. dropped stitches and knittting the wrong stitch.

We will then look at creating wrist warmers and a slouchy beret.

Launch Date: Kerry Whitton Designs

I have just launched my company. I specialise in knitted textile design.

I have specialised in knitted fabrics specifically designed for handbags and accessories but with the vision to design for other areas of the industry including ladies knitwear and interiors.

As I mainly design handbags this has effected the yarn I knit and design with and I mainly use leathers, wires and felts.

The handbags I design are vintage inspired from the fabric I knit to the handles and linings I use. These handbags are all handmade and limited editions. They are all made on a commission basis.

It is made from copper yarn and the fabric is machine knitted, it is finished with a vintage clasp.
